Welcome to the women’s refuge website

The women's refuge has existed since 1992. Physically and emotionally abused women and their underage children can find protection and safety here.

Domestic violence is perpetrated by men in more than 90% of cases. It comprises psychological violence such as threats, humiliation and isolation as well as physical and sexual violence. Violence against women and children is not limited to a particular income, educational or social group. Violence damages and destroys victims' self-confidence, social relationships and life and work perspectives.

Every year in Germany about 35,000 women take refuge in a women's shelter. There are now more than 400 women's refuges, but there are not nearly enough to meet the demand.
